NEWS l Third-Year FM Students Exhibit Innovative Research Excellence at 2024-2025 DFM Colloquium

PUP Financial Management students showcased their research at the 2024-2025 DFM Research Colloquium, receiving valuable insights from industry experts. The top five theses were recognized for their excellence in analysis, originality, and real-world impact.

 

MANILA, Philippines – Eighty-three groups of third-year Financial Management (FM) students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) presented their thesis research at the 2024-2025 DFM Research Colloquium (Thesis Defense Day) held last February 8, 2025 at the PUP Condotel.

 

The event, themed "Strengthening Research Capabilities: Driving Innovation and Leadership in Financial Management," brought together over 20 evaluators and panelists from various universities and industries. Each group was assigned two evaluators with a 40-minute allotment for the presentation and question and answer regarding their thesis. This gave the students valuable feedback from experienced professionals and academics, detailing a comprehensive evaluation of the research projects to further their groundwork.

 

The colloquium was part of the department's FINAHUSAY Program, particularly Finasaliksik, featuring research conducted by the students in just one semester. It aims to cultivate research skills and promote academic excellence among FM students. The DFM faculty challenged students to apply their classroom learning to real-world financial issues, advancing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

 

The top five theses were recognized for their outstanding contributions. The following groups were awarded with the most excellent theses, demonstrating a high level of analytical rigor, originality, and practical application:

This year's colloquium highlighted the students' dedication and hard work, providing a platform to present their work and interact with other students, faculty, and industry professionals. The event reinforced PUP's commitment to providing quality education and promoting a culture of research and innovation in financial management.
