The Junior Financial Executives - PUP successfully led the 6th Finance Week with a theme of “Golden Ticket Galore: Gazed to Sweet Victory,” which commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony at the Amphitheater on March 12 and concluded triumphantly at Claro M. Recto Hall on March 16, 2024.
Many Finance students arrived early for admission and registration for the opening ceremony facilitated by the JFINEX Officers. The event started at 2:00 pm on March 12, 2024, with the masters of the ceremony who cheerfully hyped up the crowd. Each team unleashed their energy and creativity through chants during the welcoming banter, where Team Gummies cinched the victory.
The program continued with the Doxology and National Anthem, led by JFINEX Elite's Singers. Inspirational welcome remarks were delivered by Dr. Ria Santos Fajilago, Chairperson of the Department of Financial Management, and Assoc. Prof. Bernadette M. Panibio, the JFINEX-PUP Adviser. The presence of Assoc. Prof. Realin C. Aranza, Director of PUP Internal Audit, and Prof. Prince Guillan Cruz announced as the next JFINEX-PUP adviser, were also acknowledged.
The event’s theme centered around “Candy Crush,” a famous puzzle game, and “Wonka,” a film delving into the backstory of the iconic chocolatier, Willy Wonka. In alignment with this theme, the teams were divided into four: Team Gummies, Team Jellies, Team Lollies, and Team Marshmallows.
The Finance Week also showcased academic and non-academic competitions that each participant diligently prepared for. Many demonstrated their competitive spirit, with each team eager to emerge victorious; however, only a few got the victory.
For the Academic Competition, the English - Grammar and Spelling Quiz Bee champion was Lia Andrea B. Cariño, followed by 1st runner-up, Catherine E. Nato, and 2nd runner-up, Bernadette D. Trinidad.
In the Current Affairs and General Information Quiz Bee, the champion was Eduardo Saulong III, followed by the 1st runner-up, Mary Fionna M. David, and Justine C. Ramirez, 2nd runner-up.
In the General Finance Quiz Bee, the champion was Lairan C. Delos Reyes, followed by 1st runner-up, Juliana G. Orlanda, and 2nd runner-up, Arianne Orbe.
In the Basic Financial Accounting 1 Quiz Bee, the champion was Ebrehem P. Usman, followed by the 1st runner-up, Bernadette D. Trinidad, and the 2nd runner-up, Maria Isahbel A. Paras.
In the Ultimate Finance Quiz Bee, the champion was Maria Isahbel A. Paras, followed by 1st runner-up, Bernadette D. Trinidad, and 2nd runner-up, Mary Fionna M. David.
In the Journalism Competition - Editorial Writing, the champion was Laujen Joy D. Endozo, followed by the 1st runner-up, Keane Normel M. Duco, and 2nd runner-up, Cindiella Mae G. Vasquez. For the News Writing, the champion was Janessa Riyadda B. Silongan, and the 1st runner-up, Valent Howard J. Manaloto.
In the Mystery Game, Marion Joy S. Matibag, Lance Raven S. Bendicio, Alejn Daniel C. Dela Cruz, Jeremy Lawrence Lising, and Christy Mae B. Ilao of Team Jellies was declared as the champion
For the Non-Academic Competition, Tiktok Stage: Let Your Creativity Sparkle, in the individual category, the champion was Deonila Mae B. Gaitera from Team Lollies. As for the group category, Jherimy Chrishanne C. Aguiatan, Paula Gabrielle Y. Faulve, and Mikaela T. Balajadia from Team Lollies brought home the victory.
In What Makes You A FM Student, the champions were from Team Jellies: Maureen Joyce Ramirez, Emmalyn Romasanta, Alaina Delos Santos, Heart Asejo, and April Joy Cabaya.
In the Uno Competition 2024, the grand winner was Jade Louisse Gutierrez, followed by 1st runner-up, Heart Laurice Danan, 2nd runner-up, Star Kaye Ogoy, and 3rd runner-up, Eulamar Pacapac.
In JFINEX ESPORTS: Call of Duty Mobile, the winning team was awarded to Team Gummies: Andrei G. Brosas, Angelica Mae V. Cebedo, Princess M. Estoque, Queenie Anne G. Gonzales, Andric Jay Buraga, and Lyrah Mae A. Sancha. For Legendary 5, it was given to Team Jellies: Abigail Rose S. Formaran and Rianne Louise D. Llamoso, and Team Gummies: Andrei G. Brosas, Angelica Mae V. Cebedo, and Andric Jay Buraga. And the MVP of the game was declared to be Vincent Dave O. Bariuan of Team Marshmallows.
In Mobile Legends Bang Bang, the winning team was awarded to Team Marshmallows: Vincent Dave O. Bariuan, John Bernard A. Lim, Christian A. Mapacpac, Russell Santos, Matt Gabriel Campos, and Ramil E. Decrepito. For Mythical 5, it was given to Team Marshmallows: Vincent Dave O. Bariuan and John Bernard A. Lim, and Team Jellies: Shandara Kim M. Bagood, Wyn Ford Q. Lumbao, and Christian Jay Malacapo. The MVP of the game was declared to be Christian Jay Malacapo of Team Jellies.
Last but not least, in the non-academic competition, Wallet-Wise Cosplay Adventure, the champion was Mary Anne Clara E. Ramirez, followed by 1st runner-up, Josephine F Zarco, and 2nd runner-up, Eldia M. Danao.
The event also spotlighted the prestigious awards bestowed upon deserving individuals and teams who actively participated in the 6th Finance Week.
The Most Active Student in Academic Competitions was awarded to Bernadette D. Trinidad of BSBA FM 2-7s. And for the Most Active Student in Non-Academic Competitions was awarded to Vincent Dave O. Bariuan of BSBA FM 2-4.
The Most Active Sections - 1st Year: BSBA FM 1-2, 2nd Year: BSBA FM 2-4, 3rd Year: BSBA FM 3-6, and 4th Year: BSBA FM 4-9s.
The Most Active Presidents - 1st Year: Jio Antonio R. Lazaro, 2nd Year: Juliana Marie Angeles, 3rd Year: Justine L. Contreras, and 4th Year: Katrina Paula Portillo.
The Best Team Leader was awarded to Jericho Arador of BSBA FM 2-6, and the Best Assistant Team Leader was Kyle Metzger Genolaga of BSBA FM 2-4.
For the teams who showcased their skills and talents; the Best Team in Cheering Activity was awarded to Team Gummies. The best Team in Academic Competitions was Team Lollies. The best Team in Non-Academic Competitions was Team Jellies. And for the Best Team was the Marshmallows.
The awarding ceremony was headed by JFINEX-PUP Adviser, Assoc. Prof. Bernadette M. Panibio together with JFINEX President, Mr. Mark Christian Santos, and JFINEX Executive Vice President for Internal Affairs, Ms. Kirsten Roberts.
Along with the fun games and surprising audience participation, the guest performers Finex Dance Company and Wyztery graced the afternoon by showcasing a spectacular dance production. Soon after, the competing teams shouted their sweetest chants and hearted out their full support for their teammates for the last time.
Following the closing remarks, appreciation and gratitude were expressed towards sponsors, partners, JFINEX officers, faculty members, and all Financial Management students who participated in the event.
Since 2018, the Department of Financial Management has been commemorating Finance Week to mark the department's founding anniversary — featuring diverse competitions and activities that aim to challenge the excellence and skills of students. According to JFINEX, it took three months of preparation to stage the 6th Finance Week.
