JFINEX-PUP Community hosted the FSTO 2023 on October 16, 2023, with a theme of FM Island, to welcome and empower new students in the financial field through interactive orientation, expectations, advice, and opportunities.

As they begin their first year with enthusiasm, their fellow students show and tell them what it is like to be a PUPian. With creativity in mind, and to establish positive relationships within the university, it allowed them to introduce themselves uniquely and share it with everyone.

Dr. Julieta G. Fonte, CPA, in her opening remarks, expressed her gratitude to the faculty, staff, executive, event organizer, and students. In her speech, she gave a piece of advice to students as they explore their academic journey each year of college. From her speech, she told her story about an eagle and a chicken, where one can spread their wings and prove to themselves that they are something bigger than they thought and the power that lies within everyone. "You are an eagle, not a chicken; you become what you believe; dare to dream, and then follow it." - Dr. Julieta G. Fonte, CPA

Dr. Ria S. Fajilago discussed the program descriptions and career opportunities in the finance world, as well as the importance of this program in helping students understand the importance of saving, investing, and avoiding debt, and how these skills can help them achieve financial peace of mind in the future. She also mentioned the various careers available to students who complete the BSBA FM course, including entry-level and advanced-level positions. Starting as a financial analyst, assistants and progressing to advisors, and eventually becoming a financial manager, banker, consultant, and officer in all aspects of finance.

The event also represented the program through the messages and advice from alumni to inspire every student in the FM community, as well as how they manage their academics, organization, and multitasking. Also, they remind everyone that every fundamental subject in finance will benefit you in the future, so it's of vital importance to learn from it. It also discussed the significance of applying for jobs and relying on your learning to grow the career, and how finance majors should encourage themselves with the skills to work in financial services. It's complicated and challenging, yet it's also rewarding.

The program also familiarizes students with the course curriculum, the Business Administration Major in Financial Management, the courses to be taken, and what majors and minors are subject to each semester. In addition, students had the opportunity to send questions about the course to executive officials and have them thoroughly and answered so that freshmen, shiftees, and transferees could understand them. Understanding the course context, basic accounting, and other fundamental courses in the program are required to understand and excel in finance. The orientation assisted students who are interested in the program in learning how to develop a good character with money decision-making and how to take action with proper financial management.

The event also introduced JFINEX-PUP as the Department of Financial Management's non-profit organization. Its mission of enriching its members' talents and skills has come to fruition over the years, and it continues to aspire to do so in the coming years. Their excellence is their legacy, as they introduce the academic executive board for 2023-2034.

The Luminary, JFINEX Creatives, and JFINEX Submerge are the three sub-organizations of the JFINEX-PUP.

FSTO 2023 also informed students about the general activities of JFINEX 2023-2024, as well as other webinars they attend before and during the academic year. Every year's webinar, seminar, orientation, and year-end assembly theme, the finance week and outreach program, and the Metro Finance Congress.

At the end of the orientation, the host also informed the students about opening of positions at JFINEX-PUP in October or November for those interested in joining the organization.

Dr. Ria S. Fajilago thanked everyone who contributed to the program's success in her closing remarks. This would not be possible without all of the executives and alumni sharing their humble beginnings and success with the use of knowledge in finance, as well as the cooperation of the freshmen, shiftees, and transferees, she also thanked the organizer and sponsors for making that orientation possible.
