The Department of Financial Management of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines held the “FINASALIKSIK 2024: Reigniting the DFM Research Compass Towards Increasing Knowledge and Building Relationships Through Relevant and Meaningful Research” at the PUP Gymnasium last January 13, 2024—the First Annual DFM Research Poster Presentation.
The event featured the research outputs of third-year financial management students consisting of its early chapters. Before the presentation, the junior students were split into groups to prepare their research papers. Over a hundred poster standees were displayed at the gym with their corresponding poster number, one per team.
There were 20 invited research evaluators from the PUP College of Accountancy and Finance and other universities. Every evaluator has a set of poster numbers assigned to them—the particular research papers they must assess. As per the flow of the event, each group was subjected to an evaluation by three evaluators. They were asked about their studies and were given the respective recommendations to modify their research, specifically on the parts of questionnaires, the statement of the problem, and the conceptual frameworks.
Out of more than a hundred research papers, only the top five best group presentations were shortlisted for recognition. The evaluation scores revealed the ranking. However, six groups were granted awards due to a tie for the second-place spot. Winners were given a thousand pesos each sponsored by the PUPFMAAI President, Prof. Gem Galupar.
The top 1 research presentation was from Group 3 of BSBAFM 3-6 titled, “Pass-Sakay: A Contrastive Analysis of Accessibility, Availability, and Security between Angkas and Joyride on the Transaction Frequency of Polytechnic University of the Philippines Manila Campus Students."
The PUP DFM led by its chairperson and association's VP for Internal Affairs, Dr. Ria Santos Fajilago, and the department's research coordinator, Dr. Allan Calderon, organized the research poster presentation. During the event proper, Junior Financial Executives - PUP handled the flow of the ceremony.
