Junior Financial Executives Election 2022 was recently announced by JFINEX-PUP in preparation for the new Executive Board of the upcoming term. The timeline of the election started on August 1 until August 23, 2022, where they will proclaim the winners of the election. The event will be led by the COMELEC Commissioners with Ms. Raliegh Alla as the Chairman.
To maintain the order and ensure an honest election, COMELEC commissioners are in charge with the duty of implementing rules and regulations for the event. They also have the responsibility to disseminate information and announcements to the students and candidates. In an interview, Ms. Alla, the Chairman of the COMELEC Commissioner stated that as preparation for the election, she made sure that all members of the COMELEC understand the election code to fulfill their duties and responsibilities thoroughly. This election code consists of the rules and guides that is followed by the COMELEC Commissioners and candidates of the election.
Moreover, according to her, with the online setup, they are having a tough time communicating with all members of the COMELEC. With the help of the outgoing members of the COMELEC Commissioners, they are trying to communicate with them to have a peaceful and successful election. In collaboration with the outgoing members, they evaluated each candidate’s attitudes and personality during the screening period. The criteria used by the commissioners are 50% for the task given to them, 25% for the attitude and personality, 15% for the ability to answer the question, and 10% for overall impression.
All students under Financial Management course who have a JFINEX-PUP membership number are eligible to vote for the upcoming election. Students will vote through Microsoft forms using their PUP webmail to ensure that they are a bona fide student at Polytechnic University of the Philippines. Failure to provide their membership number and inputting wrong details to the form will automatically nullify the student’s votes. In her 3 years term of being a member of the COMELEC Commissioners, Ms. Alla stated that she has not experienced disqualifying candidates to run for the election, however, punishments were given for some actions of the candidates that were irresponsible.
During the interview, Ms. Alla gave her message to the candidates and upcoming new members of the executive board saying, “Take advantage of the opportunity to serve and lead. May the new executive officers serve well and be a lodestar for the whole community of Department of Financial Management and always keep the excellence and protect the legacy.”
