It was just recently when thousands of scientists from different countries made a protest regarding the current situation of earth. Chaining themselves in a building and giving us warnings about the future outcome of our beloved land if we ignore their warnings. It’s nerve wracking, scary, and makes us anxious. Take a deep breath and think straight, how can we help our home from tearing apart if the cause why it is hurting is us, humans?

It’s been crying and asking for help. The disaster and abuse that it felt is reaching its highest level. Drought, icebergs, unusual weather, and the high temperature that melts us. Are we just going to watch as everything falls apart, or we’ll do our part to prevent destroying this beautiful art?

Climate change is a result of greenhouse gasses who cover the sun’s heat. Due to this, the world is warming up faster that results in extreme heat waves, drought, ice glaciers, unusual weather and even destroys our livelihood. Factories, electricity, transportation, deforestation and overconsuming all contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. These are the reasons why our earth is in danger and needs proper treatment and attention. To prevent this, we should be mindful of our lifestyle and how we treat the world.

As a student, we can reduce our carbon footprint by using reusable utensils. Instead of buying a bottle of water every time we’re thirsty, it’s better if we have our own tumbler so we can refill it every time we need to. Also, reducing the use of plastic reduces our carbon footprint. As we are aware that the use of transportation contributes to greenhouse gas emission, we can use an alternative option such as walking to our destination, riding a bike, car pooling or even commuting. Buying energy saving appliances and unplugging unused one’s also helps saving energy that contributes to gas emission. Through this, we can also help our earth by observing our house and making sure that we are not overconsuming.

Along with this, being responsible and disciplined is also important. Segregating our garbage and recycling helps our world breathe. For every information that we need to know, we can also use Ecosia that plants trees for every search that we do. Not only we are informed but also, we are helping our world with the trees that the search engine is planting. Of course, it won’t matter if only we, students, care for our world. It is also important to take note of those companies who are causing a lot of greenhouse gasses that destroy our world. Calling them out and choosing the right company to support also helps as they are the one who give a bigger impact.

Scientists who are well-educated are arrested for their eagerness to save the earth. They are the ones who are most knowledgeable about our situation and not hearing them out will make everything worse. As they are doing their job and saving us, we must also do our part and hear their pleas for the sake of our world. Not only us will benefit, but also the future generations of our world.
