NEWS | JFINEX-PUP Conducts FSTO 2025 to Welcome New BSBAFM Students

On September 29, 2025, the Junior Financial Executives – Polytechnic University of the Philippines (JFINEX-PUP) officially welcomed its new students through the Freshmen, Shiftees, and Transferees Orientation (FSTO) held via Zoom Cloud. The event was hosted by 3rd Year Level Representative Sharina Dela Cruz and 4th Year Representative Angelina S. Baterbonia, who guided the program smoothly from start to finish.
The orientation opened with the welcoming remarks of Assoc. Prof. Noel A. Bergonia, Dean of the College of Accountancy and Finance. In his message, he encouraged the students to strive for academic excellence while also exploring student organizations that will help them develop leadership, teamwork, and professional skills.
Important topics were presented during the orientation, which included student affairs and services, the Financial Management program, and the university’s grading system. New students were also introduced to their professors, the student organizations inside the department, and the JFINEX officers who are ready to assist them in their academic journey.
The Junior Confederation of Finance Associations – Philippines (JCFAP) also participated in the orientation through their representative, Justine Pagayunan, who explained what JCFAP is all about and the benefits students can gain from joining. Meanwhile, Sir Glen Magadia gave his reminders on disaster risk management through a video presentation, highlighting safety measures to remember especially during earthquakes.
Invited guest speaker Ms. April Joy C. Cabaya also joined the program and gave inspiring tips and insights to guide the students as they begin their journey in the Financial Management program. She encouraged them to make the most out of their college years and to use every challenge as a stepping stone for growth and success.
An open forum followed where students had the chance to ask questions that were directly answered by the Chairperson of the Department of Financial Management, Dr. Ria Santos Fajilago. This allowed the participants to clarify important matters and to learn more about what lies ahead in their program.
The orientation ended with the closing remarks of Dr. Allan Calderon, who expressed his gratitude to the new students for choosing to be part of the Financial Management program. He also shared his hope that they will actively participate in upcoming events and competitions, which will not only enhance their skills but also strengthen their pride as students of the program.
