Event Opening
Finance students gathered for the 8th Finance Week commencement day held on March 9, 2026, at the Bulwagang Balagtas. With team pride, creativity, and camaraderie, the event became colorful and extraordinary.
The day began with booth visits from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where students explored different activity booths. The parade started at PUP Laboratory High School and marched all the way to Bulwagang Balagtas.
By 1:40 PM, the program kicked off as the Masters of Ceremony enthusiastically hyped up the crowd inside Bulwagang Balagtas. Students proudly represent their teams, waving their Angry Birds-themed flags and echoing their energetic cheers.
The excitement grew stronger when one of the most anticipated programs, “Style to Strike Runway,” began. Representatives from each team confidently slayed the runway, showcasing their imaginative costumes inspired by their teams and the Angry Birds concept.
The program continued with the Philippine National Anthem and Doxology, followed by the Welcoming Remarks delivered by John Paul Maliwat, President of JFINEX. In his speech, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors, participants, and audience whose support made the event possible.
Energy levels soared during the Team Cheering Activity. Each team unleashed powerful chants, creative routines, and remixed TikTok songs to energize the crowd.
The event also celebrated the academic side of the organization through the Pre-Event Competitions Recap, highlighting academic contests. Shortly after, it was followed by the Opening Performance #1, where Mr. Zack and Ms. Dree serenaded the audience with heartfelt OPM love songs.
Recognition took center stage during the Awarding of Certificates to Sponsors, honoring the organizations that supported the event: PUP CAF Student Council, Luna Securities, Red Images, Prulife UK, SilverWorks, and Mim Kraft.
Music filled the hall again during Opening Performance #2 as Antipara rocked the crowd with songs from artists like Paramore and Sabrina Carpenter, ending the set with the nostalgic anthem Jopay, which had the audience singing along. Meanwhile, participants also received a preview of upcoming non-academic competitions, including Spike Fest and Palaro ng Lahi, adding excitement for the activities that would follow in the coming days.
By 4:30 PM, the crowd began to disperse for egress, marking the end of a lively opening ceremony. The Slingshot Saga event symbolizes momentum, propelling Finance students toward teamwork and creativity.
Event Closing
Finance students gathered for the closing ceremony of the 8th Finance Week held on March 14, 2026, at the Bulwagang Balagtas. With strong team pride and excitement, the final day wrapped up the Slingshot Saga on a high note.
The program started at 1:35 PM as the Masters of Ceremony hyped up the crowd and brought the energy back inside the venue. Students proudly answered the team roll call with loud cheers, showing the same unity and spirit they had throughout the week.
The event continued with a recap of highlights and competitions, where everyone got to look back on the best moments of the event. Fun segments like the Egg Hunt and “Days To Go” winners added more excitement to the program.
The JFINEX Dance Company performed and brought life to the stage with their moves, keeping the audience entertained. Faculty members from the Department of Financial Management were also present, showing their support for the students.
Excitement filled the venue during the raffle segment, as participants eagerly anticipated and celebrated the announcement of winners. The crowd remained active and engaged throughout the activity.
Awardings followed, recognizing the achievements of students in both academic and non-academic activities. Special awards were also given to teams, sections, and individuals who stood out during the Finance Week.
The energy rose again as NOVA performed for the final time, ending the program with music and excitement. Students also had the chance to take photos with the performers, making the moment more memorable.
The program ended with closing remarks from Department of Financial Management Assistant Professor Gem Galupar, who expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the Finance Week. By 4:30 PM, students began to leave the venue, marking the end of the closing ceremony.
