In line with the 8th anniversary celebration of the Department of Financial Management, along with the 8th Finance Week, carrying the theme Slingshot Saga: Striking Towards Financial Triumph, Junior Financial Executives-PUP (JFINEX-PUP) spearheaded the week-long festivities packed with various activities and prizes.

The Academic Committee of the JFINEXPUP initiated the Academic Competitions aimed at challenging finance students by stimulating critical-thinking, sharp-memory, and inquisitiveness through activities that develops not only their intellectual capacity but as well their teamwork and unity; the competitions were namely, Squares of Alphabet: Wordoku Frenzy Competition, Mindmatch: Recall, Connect, Conquer, and Sounds off, Brans on: Guess the Finance Code.

In connection with the foregoing, the Squares of Alphabet: Wordoku Frenzy Competition is a letter-based sudoku-inspired competition where individual participants must solve puzzles by completing the set of patterns of letters in a 9x9 grid with no repetitions. After a long battle of puzzle-work and thinking outside the box, Dwyane Dirk Bordallo of team hal clinched the Champion spot, followed by John Simon Co of team terrence seated at 1st place, while Harvey Louis Valdez of team chuck landed 2nd place.

Furthermore, Mindmatch: Recall, Connect, Conquer is inspired by the matching game where two-members were confronted by face-down tiles featuring finance-related images and had to match identical icons. It challenges concept retention, teamwork and memory. Standing fully committed into memory, Cheriza Marie Mandreza and Dexie Diane Arguelles of team blues conquered the competition and were hailed as Champions, next to their throne are Rachelyn Petallo and Clarisse Ann Pichay from team chuck ended the competition in 1st place, and Ryza Ann Rivera and Andrea Hailley Arriesgado of team blues finishes at 2nd place.

Concerning the aforementioned, the last Academic Competition features the Sounds off, Brains On: Guess the finance code where a two-team member must work collaboratively and their minds at sync, in order to correctly name the finance term. After a silent battle of grit, and a loud demonstration of teamwork, Mary Camille Jamaica Bañarez together with Julianne Mae Mangandi of team chuck rise above everyone after snagging the Champion spot, just behind their tail are Elieza Loto and Nicole Angel Salem representing team blue landed 1st place, while Kyle Metzger Genolaga and Ivan Maverick Vijar snags the 2nd place.

The academic competitions featured at the celebration of the 8th finance week demonstrated the skills, intellect, and teamwork of finance students, all of which are valuable skills as they shape their character fitting of the corporate world and navigate the complex path of their dreams.

Moving on to the challenges where success requires power, agility, and teamwork. In the non-academic category, each team demonstrated their excellence not just in numbers and wits—but in physical activities as well.

The Spike Fest: Rage of the Elements is more than just a simple volleyball game; it is one that calls for a blend of tactics and teamwork. Team Chuck reigned as the champion with their great synergy and matching powerful serves, spikes, and saves. Lawrence Zedric G. Negro was declared the Most Valuable Player for his remarkable performance.

The Palaro ng Lahi: Race and Play, The Filipino Way, brought nostalgia with the iconic traditional Filipino games. Every task put each team to a test, reliving childhood memories and filling the PUP Oval with joy and laughter. Team Terence secured the victory as they showcased their exemplary skills and connections in playing the classic Filipino way.

Lastly, Break the Zone: Finance Week Basketball League featured fast-paced action, back-to-back defenses, strong coordination, and intense plays on the court. Team Terence bagged another win through their successful passes and shots. After displaying dominance and strength, Karl Yñigo M. Cuballes earned the Most Valuable Player award.

Overall, these competitions capture the significance of the 8th Finance Week—to celebrate, unite, and excel. Whether it was a battle of strategies or driven by physical abilities, every team performed their best and striked to success. Congratulations to all the teams and continue slingshotting far for a greater financial triumph!
