“What is your favorite topic among the lessons discussed?”
I chuckled. I started to reminisce about everything from the midterms, and it was all hooked!

I snapped out of it, realizing that one of my students was raising his hand to volunteer for their final recitation. I nodded in response.
He sighed in nervousness but still delivered his thoughts concisely and in an informative manner. I praise him not only for his performance but also for the courage and active participation he contributes to every discussion. After a couple of minutes, my students started to finish their recitations one by one until all of them received a grade from me. I looked around, and I saw the smiles on their faces—a relief that they finished the recitation that they had been nervous about since the day I announced a face-to-face recitation.

“Thank you po, Prof!”
“Ikaw talaga favorite ko, Prof!”
“Prof, next year ulit! ” I laughed.
“And because of that, I expect all of you soon to be in front for the research defense.” The sound of joy quickly replaced by a sigh of worry and fear.
"Okay na po pala, Prof. Mag-aasawa na ako.” And the whole class burst in laughter as one of my students shouted. I laughed too, not only because of the joke, but because I see my old self to her. But luckily, I defended the research, proceeded to last year, and now I’m in front of them.

“Class dismissed.”
I can’t help but be happy for them too; I was one of them—a student thriving to survive college.
I was once the student who trembled every time I was called. I was even close to giving up. But I'm glad I didn't, because I wouldn't be here inspiring students if I gave up too soon. Indeed, there is power in trying and believing in yourself.
