LITERARY | Echoes of the Semi-Liberated Lee Anne DomingoNov 9, 20232 min read"On my Freedom Day, we shall rise and conquer, overcoming and fulfilling hopes and dreams we conjure. " Echoes of the Semi-LiberatedI bore witness to bloodshed's savage reign, In the dark, sunlit hours, I endured the pain, As my people, warriors of both day and night, Faced unwinnable battles, a daunting, endless plight. I heard the deafening screams, a haunting sound, Of nightmares and daydreams all around, As conflict's resonance left us bereft, None remained, and nothing was left. I inhaled the acrid scent of ashes, My heart, cold and heavy, silently crashes, With the scent of loss, in solitude, I wept, Torn asunder by the sorrow I kept. I tasted the bitterness, the aftertaste of betrayal, From a vortex of greed and revengeful portrayal, Everyone was consumed; everything was devastated, By the cruel terrors of humanity, dreams had shattered. I yearned to feel the elusive sense of tranquility, The serenity from the vanity of this insanity, Where peace is the soul, the foundation of me, A world of harmony, with hearts roaming free. I yearned and longed for such peace to come Will they have the strength to mend the undone? To cease the prolonged despair of the past? Or will we merely remain the product of our outlast? Alas! Humanity's synergy has begun! All great battles and tensions were shunned. Yet an intuition signifies I am never truly free, Pain still lingers within parts of me. I ponder about the pursuit of peace, Is it too much for yonder to release? Perhaps it's their nature—the chaos and enmity, In this never-ending cycle, is loss our destiny? Amidst the shadows, I fiercely hold onto the light, Through winds and storms, I muster all my might. For as long as someone believes, we shall seize our chance, A chance to heal and mend with a long-lasting stance. On my Freedom Day, we shall rise and conquer, Overcoming and fulfilling hopes and dreams we conjure.
